Industrialization is an essential pre-requisite for rapid and sustained economic development and social progress of a country. The industrial sector has been historically the sector that driven the growth of countries that moved from low to middle income status. The industrial sector of Bangladesh is a huge contributor for the country's economic growth. The Government has taken many steps to facilitate the industrialization in Bangladesh.
We will have to focus on industrialization and we will ensure the environment protection, green infra-structure, power & energy efficiency, green financing and safety as well. We will work together with private sector to support industrial institutions to provide assistance to enterprises and entrepreneurs in all aspects relating to the green industry.
We will have to encourage the competiveness of green enterprises and the development and implementation of innovative technologies to help moving towards a more green economy. Investments in green innovation can strengthen economic growth and inspire environmental and eco-sensitive management and production.
Energy efficiency is essential for the country’s industries to sustain in global competition. Efficiency is essential not only for energy or industrial sectors but also for all the sectors. On January 13, 1975, the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, established the Housing and Building Research Center, which later became an autonomous institute as the Housing and Building Research Institute. The Institute aim to build environment-friendly, sustainable, and cost-effective infrastructure for the large population by utilizing local construction materials and the limited resources of Bangladesh.
The Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, drafted by Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in 1972, is one of the best-written constitutions in the world. In Article 16 of the Constitution, the Father of the Nation added the pledge thatin order to eliminate urban and rural disparities, the State shall take effective measures for the radical transformation of rural areas through the development of the agricultural revolution, rural electrification, cottage Industry and other industries, education, communication, and public health.
At present, the government is providing relentless efforts to take up the program of uplifting every village into a city and bringing the city’s facilities to the villages. On December 28, 2014, during her visit to the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Honorable Prime Minister Sheik Hasina gave instructions for developing various environmentally friendly construction materials as an alternative to the currently used burnt clay bricks. In light of that directive, HBRI has already developed environmentally friendly construction materials such as sand cement solid block, sand cement hollow block, thermal block, non-fired solidification block, CSEB, AAC block, etc. These alternative building materials have a great contribution in protecting the environment and the top soil of our agricultural land. In addition to research, marketing, and extension of innovative construction materials/technologies, housing and construction consultancy services are provided to individuals/organizations. HBRI is working relentlessly to create skilled human resources through various training programs to increase the quality and efficiency of the construction industry. Apart from this, this organization also plays a leading role in various eco-friendly and sustainable housing construction activities aimed at dealing with natural disasters in remote areas of Bangladesh.
By creating a platform, the 11th International BIID EXPO & DIALOGUE introduces an excellent scope to exchange knowledge and updated technology of the related fields among all the participants.
