Bangladesh has significant growth in its healthcare sector over the past two decades with a population of over 190 million people and increasing public health awareness the demand for essential medical consumables such as syringes, needles, cannulas, and pharmaceutical packaging products continues to increase rapidly. Despite this growing demand, the majority of medical devices and medical packaging materials used in Bangladesh are imported. According to industry estimates, approximately 85–90% of medical devices are imported, while domestic manufacturing remains limited to only a few companies.
This heavy reliance on imports increases healthcare costs and creates supply vulnerabilities. To mitigate this gap and support the national healthcare system, the proposed project aims to establish a modern medical products manufacturing plant in Bangladesh to produce essential disposable medical devices and pharmaceutical packaging products. The project will contribute to strengthening the local healthcare supply chain, reducing import dependency, and creating employment while ensuring the availability of high-quality medical consumables at competitive prices.
